Hi there! I’m Loredana, and I started this website in 2024 as a way to reclaim my health and share my journey as I explore the world again with coeliac disease.

Thank you for joining me on this gluten-free adventure. To keep this website authentic, I pay for my own meals, experiences, stays, and trips. On Go Beyond Gluten, you’ll find:

  • Gluten-free travel guides based on my personal experiences.
  • Honest restaurant recommendations and product reviews.
  • Resources to help you travel comfortably and confidently.
  • Sponsored content and collabs will always be disclosed.

A little bit about me…

Welcome to my little gluten-free corner of the Internet!

I’m a Canadian-Romanian who has been living overseas for over a decade. I’ve traveled to dozens of countries and lived in places like Canada, Australia, England, Singapore, and South Korea—but now, I’m navigating it all with coeliac disease, and that’s how Go Beyond Gluten was born.

I even embraced the “nomad” lifestyle with my partner for a year and a half from 2022 to 2023 (though, unfortunately, my symptoms worsened at the start of that trip!).

I started Go Beyond Gluten to share gluten-free travel tips, destination guides, and resources while exploring my current city of Melbourne and beyond.

In April 2024, I was diagnosed with coeliac disease after a frustrating search for answers to my unexplained and intensifying symptoms over the past couple of years. It’s been a challenge, but after hearing “nothing is wrong” from healthcare professionals far too many times, I finally felt relief.

Sound familiar?

Despite already running a successful digital travel publication, Destguides, it felt right to create a new space to reflect this chapter in my life.

I also hold an MSc in Global Mental Health from LSHTM and KCL (a joint program), which has further fueled my passion for health and wellbeing. You can learn more about me and my businesses here.

To me, “going beyond gluten” means embracing life fully, despite the challenges coeliac disease may bring. It’s about refusing to let coeliac disease (and gluten in particular) control your journey, and instead, finding ways to live without limits—experiencing the world and tasting all the delicious gluten-free treats that await you along the way.

My hope is that Go Beyond Gluten helps you feel a little less intimidated and alone in this vast world, and that it empowers you to travel with confidence once again.
